Hello! We’re Luke and Holly

We’re hoping to adopt! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We feel humbled to be considered along your journey.

Since the very first time we talked about having children, we knew we wanted to adopt.

With close friends and family that represent all sides of the adoption process, we just knew that this was how we would grow our family. We have seen how adoption can bring two families together in a unique and beautiful way. We are hoping for an open adoption where all members of the family are honored and play an important role in the life of your child. Our view has always been that the more people who love and care for a child, the better. Thank you for taking the time to view our profile and getting to know us better. We hope to have the opportunity to get to know you as well.

OUR STORY

We first met in Holly’s senior year of college and Luke’s first year in graduate school.

We worked for the same department and were paired together to serve food at a campus tailgate. Time flew by while we made bad food puns and competed in the adult-sized tricycle races (which we won). After the tailgate Holly asked Luke to join her and a friend for lunch. There we bonded over our shared passion for social justice and similar sense of humor. After that lunch we both just knew this was it.

Throughout our relationship we have enjoyed many common interests, including exploring the outdoors, traveling to other countries, and working on home improvement projects.

“Most importantly, we share a common set of core values and deep respect for one another that keeps us grounded, and laughing, through life’s ups and downs.”

OUR HOME AND FAMILIES

We live in a Midwestern college town that is home to two independent film festivals, an annual music and BBQ festival, and lots of fun local shops. Two hours away from our state’s biggest cities and nestled in an area that has many hiking paths, rivers and creeks to explore, we never get bored. We look forward to showing our child the best secret swimming hole, the lending library with the most diverse books, and trying the newest flavors at our local ice cream shop. Our home is located within walking distance to our local schools, a beautiful park, and the homes of some of our best friends. Our large backyard has plenty of room for a treehouse, like the one Luke remembers building with his dad, and has room for Holly to help our child practice their best soccer skills. Our three cats are excited to share their space and their toys with a sibling and we cannot wait to cook dinner as a family each night.

WE ARE LUCKY TO LIVE SO CLOSE TO OUR FAMILIES.

We share many family dinners, help each other with home projects, and spend a lot of time together. Both of our families show us unconditional love and support. When Luke came out as a trans man, lots of things in his life changed, but the one thing that stayed the same was his family’s love and support for him. Similarly, Holly’s family has always encouraged her to be true to herself and celebrated her independence. We hope to instill in our child the same values of security, unconditional love, kindness, and self-assuredness.

We feel incredibly blessed to not only be supported by our immediate family but to also have a community of friends that we
call “chosen family.” When you are a part of an underrepresented group like the LGBTQ community you learn that family is much more than biology.
