Hi! We’re Sheyla and Anthony

Dear Expectant Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to review our profile! We would like to let you know that we respect your decision on considering adoption and hope that you find us a good fit. We have always considered adoption, even before facing our personal challenge of having a child naturally. We plan on giving your child a fun loving, happy, and fulfilling life and sharing those moments with you through photos and updates.

We look forward to getting to know you!

About Us

Our story begins in the tropical vacation destination of Hawaii, our home for four years and a place that is not hard to fall in love. We were both stationed in the Navy on the “windward” side of the island, Kaneohe Bay.  We became acquaintances through mutual friends and discovered our similar passion for food, travel, animals, and love for culture.  As we learned more about each other, we couldn’t stop the magic from happening and married in 2019.

During this time, we found ourselves in the great state of Texas and are proud parents of a furry pup named Gunnar. He enjoys having a big backyard that overlooks a green belt and can’t wait to share it with a new family member. When afforded some free time, we enjoy great outdoors where we like to camp and hike together.

Family is everything to us, which is why we choose to spend most of our time off with them. When we can, we like to visit extended family in Tennessee, Florida, Arizona and Peru.

MEET SHEYLA BY ANTHONY

Sheyla is my motivator, sidekick and occasional single audience member for my dreadful dad jokes, bless her.

Ever since we met, she has driven me to be a better person. I could not have accomplished what I have so far without her. For instance, convincing me to apply for challenging college courses that later opened doors for my career and being supportive when my workday is more stressful.

It’s fun watching her interacting with her niece and nephews, and she loves spending time with animals. She is patient and caring with them, which is why I know she’ll be a great Mom.  Gunnar has some interesting anxiety quirks, and she is right by his side each time he is having an episode from a thunderstorm. She knows exactly what to do to calm him during these moments.

I don’t think there’s anything Sheyla enjoys more than dancing and singing to her favorite 80’s and 90’s Latin rock bands. I don’t understand a word of it, but she sings to me like I can, and it warms my heart.

MEET ANTHONY BY SHEYLA

Anthony is my rock, my world and one of life’s biggest blessings.

He is very kind and sweet. One of his biggest characteristics is his great sense of humor, always making me laugh with his silly things. He is very compassionate, smart, hardworking, and dedicated to everything he put his mind on. He always follows his heart and does what he knows is right.

His very outgoing personality makes everyone feel good when we are around family and friends. He loves playing with our niece and nephews when we get together with family. He is a great cook; our family and friends love to visit because he always treats them with delicious meals and desserts. I cannot wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations because he makes the best holiday treats ever and they are gone within minutes.

Anthony loves outdoor activities, and that is something that we love to do together. Every year we go camping to amazing places sometimes with his Dad and/or friends. He always enjoys his annual fishing trips with his Dad.

Above all, I consider myself lucky because Anthony is a great husband. Always going above and beyond for our little family, and I cannot wait for him to become a dad.

Sheyla’s Career

Do what you love is my motto. I always wanted to be in healthcare field, my healthcare information management degree took me to find an amazing job with the Immunization Registry. I enjoy what I do because I am part of a team that helps our community by ensuring all children have a better chance of getting their recommended vaccinations on schedule. I’m very lucky that my job is remote, so I can spend time with my family. Work life balance is very important to me in having a healthy family.

anthony's Career

I consider myself very lucky in that I’ve found a career path that I went to school for, advertising. I love story telling, and I’m able to do that in my role as a Client Success Manager at a real estate focused marketing agency. It offers me a creative outlet and allows me to connect with people and allows us to be financially stable. As much as I love my work, my favorite thing to do after work to unwind is go on a run through the neighborhood or throw the ball with Gunnar in the backyard to unwind.

ON THE EDGE OF THE CITY AND HILL COUNTRY

We are so happy to call Texas our home!

Although our four bedroom home is a bit big for just us, we wanted enough room to start our family. The neighborhood is only three miles from the elementary and middle school, and uniquely located just minutes from downtown trails, parks and museums, but also close to the Texas Hill Country and nearby lakes.

Besides having the hill country in our backyard and downtown a quick drive away, we chose this location so we can visit with Anthony’s parents often, just 35 minutes away.

OUR MODERN FAMILY

Since Anthony’s parents are just a few minutes down the road, we spend a lot of time with them and their two sweet puppies. Much like Anthony, his dad shares a passion for cooking and loves seeing other enjoys his bounty.

His brother has started his family in Tennessee, where he and his fiancé and their newborn, Archer, live.  It was a great moment when Anthony got to meet his sweet nephew for the first time and hold him at 5 weeks old!

Anthony’s Aunt Alisa and Uncle Bruce, from his father’s side, live in Arizona, with his two teenage cousins and 23 year old cousin, Sarah. Fun fact, Bruce and Alisa were born in Pakistan. They both had a huge part in helping raise Anthony in his early years when he lived in AZ.

Sheyla’s mother lives in Florida. She loves to spend time with her grandkids and always goes to the movies with her friends and enjoys having her Wednesday tea party with her group of friends from church. She is fluent in Spanish, but understands English and can carry on small conversations. Currently, her best English teacher is her grandson.

Sheyla’s brother lives a few minutes from her mother where he, his wife and two beautiful children, ages 2 and 4, reside. At least once a year, we visit her family in Florida and love taking gifts to the children and spending time with them and Sheyla’s extended family, some that visit from Peru and Cuba!
