We are excited to expand our family through adoption and devote ourselves to providing the best life possible to a very precious child and share that growth with you.

We live in a quiet neighborhood near downtown that is full of children, families, pets and parks. We can’t wait to grow our family in this setting with the love and support of our extended family, friends and neighborhood. We would love to watch a child grow up full of limitless possibilities knowing that he or she has the support to do anything they put their mind to with hard work, determination and a smile on their face.

GETTING TO KNOW US

It’s about time! Nelson is punctual and exact. Trevor is… getting better at it.

On our first date in Washington, DC, Trevor was an hour late due to an unexpected voting session in the House of Representatives where Trevor worked. Trevor gave Nelson a heads up 20 minutes prior to the date, but Nelson being the punctual gentleman he is, was already en-route to the restaurant. Luckily, because we both work in politics, Nelson understood the work emergency and waited around.

OUR HOME

Our home sits in a quiet neighborhood near downtown with easy access to all the city has to offer from parks to restaurants to shopping.

We joke that everywhere we need to be is within 15 minutes from our house, except for the beach which we love to go to on a regular basis. That’s about 3 hours east of our home. We get to enjoy all four seasons here with mild winters, hot summers and enjoyable spring and fall. In the spring, the flowers are in bloom everywhere and everything that lost its leaves turns green.

Our home has a fenced in backyard with lots of space for the dog and our future children! On one side of our home, neighbors have kids that constantly talk to us through the fence and often ask us to send toys they’ve thrown over back to them. There is a side gate nearby that they just come through to say hi, which is super fun. The neighborhood is friendly, safe and there are people constantly walking dogs, out playing with their kids or sitting on their front porch waving to people as they pass by. One of our sets of parents is also within a mile of our home, which is very convenient and reassuring having them close by.

 

OUR FAMILY

We both come from families that prioritize, celebrate, and support each other.

Trevor’s big rambunctious family includes
his parents, seven brothers and sisters (he’s the youngest of eight!), and 27 nieces and nephews in his hometown in Arizona, North Carolina, and across the country. Our family’s cowboy heritage is at the center of our family gatherings where you’ll always find classic country music playing, dancing, enough food for an entire ranch, and cake, lots and lots of homemade cakes. 

Nelson’s family has deep roots in North Carolina, and we are lucky to live less than a mile from his parents, which makes for an easy stroll down the street to visit “Babs and Pops”. Nelson and his two younger brothers are very close knit and prioritize spending time together even as adults and living in different cities. Spending the Fourth of July at the family beach house is a favorite past-time and a tradition we look forward to sharing with our future children, surrounded by cousins, grandparents, and friends.
