I am a single woman who lives and works in the amazing city of Chicago! I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and have worked with kids my whole nursing career. I have always known that I have wanted to be a Mom. I am so grateful to have three separate friends and coworkers who have also adopted children in recent years. They have shown me how brave your decision would be, and I would be eternally grateful for it.
I know that being a single mom will have its challenges. But I am so grateful that my family and friends are so supportive, and that they are ready to walk this journey with me!
I understand that adoption would be a lifelong journey with you, and I would love to walk that path with you as well as part of an open adoption.
GETTING TO KNOW ME
I started out my working career as a nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. But for the last 17 years, I have worked as a nurse and now nurse practitioner who cares for children who are born with heart disease.
I absolutely love working with kids because of their bravery and resiliency that they show every single day.
I love running, biking, skiing, hiking, and gardening. Really, I just love being outside! I have run 5 marathons in my life - most recently I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2019! During the summer months, I bike along Lake Michigan to commute to work - it is quicker than driving to work! But I also love to read and belong to a bookclub with my friends who live in my neighborhood. I belong to a community garden and love to grow vegetables in the summertime.
MY HOME AND FAMILY
I am so lucky in that I have a strong network of extended family and friends with kids, many of whom live within a mile of my condo. My good friends live 2 blocks away, and we often have each other over for dinner. There are many families with kids who live in my building, including my next door neighbors!
I am so lucky to be very close with my family.
Although we live far apart, we videochat once a week. And we love to take trips together that involve the outdoors - my nieces and nephews love to hike too. And when we are all together, we love to play boardgames and put together puzzles, especially at Christmas time.
FUN FACTS
Halloween is so fun; I love to get dressed up and be silly. My friends and coworkers love to plan our outfits for Halloween at work at the Children’s Hospital.
My sister in law is French and we have been to visit her family a few times in the French Alps. She and my brother speak French to one another.
I love the Harry Potter books. I even went with friends to a bookstore at midnight in New York City when the 7th book was released.
I love our country’s national parks. I have a National Park Passport book which I get stamps for all the parks that I visit.
My brother and his wife were stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I visited them twice while they lived in Japan, during which we visited Tokyo Disney World with my nieces and nephew.
I studied abroad in college in London for a whole semester.
I love all types of music and usually have something playing on a speaker in my condo. I love to sing and dance while I cook dinner.
IN CLOSING
my biggest hope and wish in life is to become a mom.
I promise to provide a life and a home that is not only safe but happy and joyful. but I also promise to instill the values of honesty, integrity, and hard work.
