Hi! i’m lauren
I’m hoping to adopt!
Learn more about me by downloading and reading my adoption profile book.
I am so excited that you are reading my profile. I live in Carlsbad, California, which is on the coast in San Diego County. I am single and work as an attorney, in business law. I am also an avid cook and gardener.
I am adopting because I have always wanted a family of my own. After ending a long relationship and changing careers, I found myself at a crossroads of being too old to have my own biological child while also being certain that my life will not be complete without one. I can’t wait to have an incredible life with a child.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
ABOUT ME
My health and happiness are my biggest priorities. I picked my career and the law firm I work at because they support having a family and a work-life balance. I focus effort every day on taking care of my physical and psychological health, through exercise, yoga, good sleep habits, cooking good food, productive time, and keeping a warm and comfortable home.
After my immediate self-care needs, I’ve worked hard to curate a life that prioritizes good people. My friends call me “a nurturer,” not just because I am a gardener and there are so many plants in my home, but also because I am intentional about cultivating relationships with positive people who support one another. My family, many friends, co-workers, and acquaintances are my source for energy, joy, and fulfillment.
I am an avid cook, always trying out new recipes and learning new skills. I also garden and grow everything from vegetables on my patio to orchids in my bathroom. I have practiced yoga for over 16 years, and will soon be completing an intensive training with the most incredible teacher. I can’t wait to share my hobbies with a child.
MY HOME AND COMMUNITY
I live in Carlsbad, California, in an area just a few minutes away from the beach. I like to visit the beach, swimming in the summer, walking the sand in the winter, and getting takeout with a friend and eating it during the sunset year-round. I also like to hike or jog on the nearby trails. There is a historic ranch just down the hill from my house that is home to a flock of peacocks. My neighbor and I go for “peacock walks” at least once a week.
My neighborhood is filled with people and families of all ages, lots of grassy areas surrounded by eucalyptus trees, and two swimming pools. We host potluck block parties at least twice a year. The oldest to attend are usually Joanne and Claudio, who are in their 90s, and the youngest are babies and kids—Hart, who is four, is one of my favorite neighbors, he is quite the little gentleman and had the best Halloween costume last year.
My house is on the end of a street, with a patio where I garden and eat most of my meals outside.
MY FAMILY
My family likes to eat. And fortunately we all love to cook, even my extended family—my cousins cooked an impressive turkey at last year’s Thanksgiving.
My step-dad and I are always pursuing some new culinary obsession. Most recently, we’ve been making pasta from scratch or cooking up big pots of beans from a particular vendor of specialty beans. On special occasions, we seek out terrific restaurants—we are foodies indeed.
We have a lot of traditional dishes that we make on holidays: cheese rolls and tamale sauce at Christmas, Grandmother’s chocolate cake on birthdays, corned beef and cabbage with my step-dad’s horseradish “fluff” for St. Patrick’s day, Aunt Marion’s deviled eggs at Easter, and barbecues with Mom’s potato salad on the Fourth of July.
My mom is big into education, particularly reading. When I was little, she worked in a children’s bookstore. She fell in love with the books with award-winning illustrations and stories. When I was a kid, she would give me a sticker for each book I read. Today, she has a large collection of children’s books that she keeps curated for the grandkids at each age and stage. My brother’s two boys love to re-read their favorites.
FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
I play the ukulele a little bit. I happen to have two and am hoping to give the other one to my kiddo someday.
I grew up picking oranges, riding bikes, and getting dirty in the river bottom with my brother and cousins at my grandfather’s citrus ranch in Santa Paula, CA.
On Saturday mornings, I like to watch cartoons with my coffee.
I make ice cream. Traditionally, I make peach for the Fourth of July and peppermint at Christmas.
A fond memory from childhood is my mom teaching me to wrap presents and tie our own bows. I still prefer wrapping gifts over putting them in bags.
I host an annual “artichoke party” where each of my friends brings an artichoke and we steam them all up and serve them with hollandaise sauce and other delicious dishes. It started with three and at last count hosted over 25 friends—they are so excited and can’t wait to meet my child someday soon.

IN CLOSING
I am honored and want to thank you for reading my profile. I hope that I get the chance to meet and know you.
I promise to love your child more than anything and anyone I’ve ever loved, and to help them grow into an adult that you’ll be proud of. I’ve worked hard to get to this great time and space in my life that will allow me to be devoted to your child above all else. If you’d like, I’d love to have an open relationship and be your friend and family as well.
Hoping to get the chance to speak with you.
Best wishes. —Lauren
