Hi! I’m Kya
I am a prospective single mom who is excited to welcome a child into my life!

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a little bit more about me. I live and work in downtown Chicago and cannot wait to start building my family here surrounded by the beauty of Lake Michigan mixed with all the culture the city has to offer.
While I know that being a single mom can be a challenge, I am so blessed to have an incredible support system of friends and family who will have my back every step of the way. I am lucky that my parents, brother and his family, grandmother, and about a dozen aunts, uncles, and cousins all live just a short car ride away. Your child would be a part of a big, loving extended family. While I am extremely close to the family I was born into, I am also so blessed to have an additional “other family” that I have gathered around me throughout the course of my life. This family is just as excited to welcome a new baby into our lives.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
AS A PEDIATRIC CARDIAC INTENSIVE CARE DOCTOR AND GYMNASTICS COACH, I HAVE DEDICATED MY LIFE TO TAKING CARE OF OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN.
I grew up in my mom’s gymnastics school, first as an athlete and then as a coach. As a kid, my time in the gym taught me perseverance, team work, dedication, and camaraderie – all of which made me into the person I am today. Most importantly, it introduced me to my passion for kids.
I love my job. My role as a pediatrician, taking care of kids with very sick hearts, is such a privilege. I get to support parents and children through the most difficult moments of their lives.
“We will face life’s challenges and adventures together and honor your extraordinary and courageous decision.”
MY FAMILY
I grew up in a diverse suburb right outside of Chicago in a very close-knit family.
My parents have been incredible role models. They are both retired teachers and have dedicated their lives to helping children. When my oldest nephew was born, my family rallied around my brother who spent much of my nephew’s early life as a single dad. I have spent the last 12 years at the zoo, parks, pool, and playground being the absolute best Auntie around.
My mom is my absolute best friend. She owns a local gymnastics school and so I am so fortunate that I get to work alongside her every week. She is the kindest, funniest, and most principled person I know.
Since his retirement, my Dad splits his time between Michigan, Chicago, and Las Vegas. Fortunately he is a frequent visitor to my brother’s house to spend quality time with my nephews who love their “Oompa”.
FUN FACTS
5 fun facts about me
My middle name is Yasmin and my family and closest friends call me “Yasi” (rhymes with Jazzy).
My favorite children’s TV show is Doc McStuffins. I have dressed up as Doc for a couple of Halloweens now.
Every week I have “family dinner” with my friends and their new baby. I can’t wait to be able to bring a new baby into that special family.
My maternal grandmother is an amateur historian. She has been able to trace our family lineage back to the early slavery period. She has taught all her grandchildren to value their rich heritage and to remember the sacrifices that our ancestors made to get us to where we are today.
My extended family has a unique holiday tradition. Our whole extended family gathers on the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas to have a second belt-busting feast and to share our love for each other. Our big close-knit family is a huge part of who I am.
IN CLOSING
Becoming a mom is the most important thing I will ever do, and I would be eternally grateful to you for helping to make that dream come true.
I believe that every challenge faced and every lesson learned in my life so far has been preparing me for this next step. I promise that I will protect and nurture your child every day to ensure that they have a life filled with joy and wonder. I will teach them to be kind and compassionate but also to have confidence and a strong sense of self – always valuing their own unique story and individuality. With the deepest gratitude, I will teach your child where they came from and about the journey that brought us all together – and they will be stronger as a result.
Hopefully this gives you a glimpse of who I am as a person and who I hope to be as a parent. I hope we can connect and learn more about each other moving forward!
