Hello from Kansas! We’re Matt And Katie along with our daughter, callie.
We both grew up in Kansas, learning the values of love, family, and commitment and are excited to welcome you and your child into our family.
We are humbled by your consideration and admire your courage in considering adoption for your child.
ABOUT US
Though both from Kansas, we met on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.
Our initial meeting in the halls of Congress initiated a long-distance relationship over the course of several years. We were committed to making our relationship work and have been together for almost 20 years and married for 14!

OUR HOME
We live in northeast Kansas, not far from Kansas City. We enjoy the variety of weather that Kansas throws our way - even inventing tornado bingo for those crazy weather days.
Our community is incredibly active with rarely a day going by where there isn’t something going on. In 2015, we moved into our forever home with visions of creating a space where we maximize our time outdoors. Today, that dream is reality and we enjoy watching sporting events next to the firepit, swimming in the pool, and hosting friends and family in our home. Our neighborhood is nestled around a lake with diverse families from all over. In the summer, you’ll see kids riding bikes and playing together, families enjoying a boat ride, and lots of fireworks on the Fourth of July. In the fall and winter months, we buy too much candy on Halloween, decorate our homes for Christmas, and take advantage of warm days to check-in with our friends and neighbors.
MEET CALLIE
In November 2022, we welcomed our daughter Callie through adoption.
Callie is a busy little girl who loves to play with her friends at playgroup, shake her sillies out at dance class, play instruments at music class, and practice her forward rolls at gymnastics. She is smart, strong, funny, loving, kind, compassionate, and perceptive - but has enough sass to keep things interesting (and entertaining). Callie is deep in her Mickey & Minnie Era which served as the theme of her recent birthday parties.
We are fortunate to have an open adoption with Callie’s birth mother and communicate with her frequently. Since Callie’s arrival, we have developed a strong relationship with her and her family. They are an important part of Callie’s story and we are so grateful to have them as cherished members of our family.
OUR LOVED ONES
Katie’s family is incredibly close knit. She is the oldest of four children. Her mom is a former teacher who retired to be grandma while her dad looks forward to retiring at the end of the year to be a full-time papa. Our family motto has always been “Work hard. Do your best. Be kind to others.” We love to play games - indoor and outdoor - Nordic Bowling, Phase 10, and SkipBo are some of our favorites. A silly family tradition is our Christmas Scavenger Hunt where my mom puts us all in teams, adults and kids alike, and sends us out to run around town for the chance to win a “prize” from the Dollar Store. Every Fourth of July, we host Katie’s family for a weekend of swimming, BBQ, laughter, games, and fireworks. We have four nieces and one nephew, ranging in age from 12 to 3.
Matt grew-up in a small but close knit family. His affinity for water started early with summers spent with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Although his brothers and their partners live in other states, we routinely have family Facetime sessions to catch-up and get together in-person several times a year. The in-person visits usually involve lots of laughter, little sleep, a whole lot of music, and cherished memories. Matt’s parents, Carl and Pam, fully embraced the roles of “Lolli” and “Pop” and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of another grandchild.
