We are John and Katie, and thanks to the blessing of adoption, our team of two has grown into a family of four!
Becoming parents to Grayson and Gabe has brought us so much joy and has taught us about the hard work and challenges that come with raising children. We’re very fortunate to have one another and the support of a loving family nearby on this journey. Parenting has been the most fulfilling experience of our lives, and while our hearts are full in the best way possible, we know our family isn't done growing yet. We can't wait to welcome another child to share in our family's love and to be part of the special bond our boys have created.
Please know that we’re committed to helping our children feel pride and confidence in themselves as Black boys, and we hope to adopt another child who can share and celebrate this connection with them. OUR STORY
We met on our first day of high school!
We soon became good friends, and when we went off to different colleges, we stayed close. We both knew it was actually love when John drove several hours overnight (right before taking a big exam!) to return the wallet Katie had accidentally left in his car. John proposed on our fifth anniversary, and a year later, we were married by Katie's uncle in a beautiful outdoor garden on a sunny August day, surrounded by family and friends.

OUR HOME AND FAMILIES
We live on a tree-lined street in a family-friendly Chicago neighborhood, where we've enjoyed over ten years of easy access to the lakefront, downtown, and local amenities like the grocery store, library, and playgrounds. Our proximity to the forest preserve trail is perfect for Katie's runs and family bike or scooter rides. Our home is a happy hub, with playroom fun in the colder months and backyard activities like gardening, grilling, and roasting marshmallows year-round. Grayson and Gabe love playing with our neighbor, and our house is the center of holiday gatherings, with John cooking and Katie baking. We also love exploring the city, from the boys' vibrant school neighborhood to our downtown church and lakefront adventures.
We’re fortunate to have loving, supportive family members nearby, making regular visits and shared activities a big part of our lives.
From city adventures and nature time to playful cousin gatherings and grandparents' special treats, family time is always filled with fun and connection. We also enjoy trips to Wisconsin to visit relatives, where outdoor activities like fishing and boat rides are highlights.

Watching Grayson and Gabe explore the world, grow into themselves as people, connect with others, have fun, and be silly has been the greatest joy of our lives. We are forever grateful to their amazing birth families for choosing adoption and loving their children so generously and selflessly. We feel very strongly that our home and hearts are ready to welcome another child – a child who will have our unconditional love and support.
