We are an active family that loves to do yoga, ballet, and martial arts.
We strongly value education and the learning process. We love discovering more about the world and coming up with new questions to challenge our minds. Each evening, we love to snuggle with our four-year-old and read bedtime stories as a family. We cannot wait to add a new baby to our family, and we are thrilled that you are considering us as a potential family to your baby. Thank you for taking the time for getting to know us.
We’ve always wanted to adopt.
Even when we were pregnant with our first child, we discussed adoption. Then after giving birth to our baby Ari, we solidified our desire to adopt. There were several medical complications postpartum, and we knew that we could not risk the danger of another pregnancy. This made us realize that everything we had always talked about was something we definitely wanted to turn into a reality. Each day, Ari asks us about when he will have a new baby sibling in the house. This is not simply something that we as parents want, this is something that everyone in our family wants.
We are waiting in excited anticipation to make this dream of adoption come true.
ABOUT US
We met in high school, but it wasn’t until college when we started doing yoga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu together that we realized we were in love.
We started spending nights talking about the world, our lives, and our goals, and in time, we realized that we wanted to be with each other forever. Through our time together we learned that we believed in empathy, human rights, and love for fellow humans. We valued communication, in fact, we always rolled our eyes at sitcoms where the main conflict could have been avoided had the two characters in question actually sat down and talked to each other. With these beliefs, we built our relationship to one of understanding, kindness, and love, and these are the elements we uphold in our relationship today.
OUR HOME AND FAMILIES
We live in a lovely neighborhood that has a tennis court and community pool. Our neighborhood is central to countless malls, parks, museums, and other activity centers. We started with the zoo annual pass as a place to push our child around when he was a toddler. We’re about a thirty minute drive from the beach, but prefer the pool. Sundays are usually banana bread making day, groceries, laundry day, and general house cleaning. Our child learned these things as a game and will start chucking dirty clothes into the washer. On rainy days or extremely hot days there is our living room that turns into a blanket fort, or an obstacle course, or an art exhibit. We have a piano and our child has started playing and singing, but I fear he got the performing talent of his tone-deaf father and not the mother who did ballet, singing, and dancing since five years old.
We have both of our parents that live within twenty minutes of us.
They love spending time with the one grandchild, there’s always something scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. One brother is expecting a baby next year, his wife comes from a large Trinidadian family that lives about 30 minutes away. One sister lives farther away and her husband has a daughter from a previous relationship. My niece is now becoming a teenager and I’m happy when she randomly calls or sends silly pictures she made on her phone. Kati’s mother is Cuban and her father is from Vietnam. There is usually family gathering on Saturday and Sunday at someone’s house or a restaurant, and guaranteed gatherings for birthdays and holidays.

About Katarina
I speak Spanish and English.
One of my favorite vacation spots is Universal Studios (Harry Potter world is truly magical). But more than being a vacation of thrills, I think back to the times my own parents took us to theme parks, and how our imaginations were captivated by being able to immerse ourselves in the imaginary worlds of our movies and books.
I love musical theater, and my favorite musical is Les Miserables.
About Tom
My favorite vacation spot is outdoors, on a mountain, waking up to the fog as it leaves with the coming of the morning sun.
Skateboarding and Frisbee became the best sports, they could be done almost anywhere and could be done with 2 or twenty people.
Cinnamon rolls would be my favorite dessert, I would spend summers with my grandfather making cinnamon rolls. Then unrolling them to his dismay after they came out of the oven.
