We’ve been married for over two decades and have five children— two we birthed and three we adopted. Our kids range in age from 17 to 1 year old. We love being parents and doing life with our kids. We want another baby to love and nurture— a best friend for Diego to grow up with.
We met in college when we were just seventeen and have been together ever since. We both speak Spanish and Karla and the kids speak French too. We love family, friends, cultures, languages, and good food! We want our kids to feel proud of their heritage, to see the world, and to leave a positive imprint wherever they go.

¡Hola! Somos Karla y Carlos
Hemos estado casados durante más de dos décadas y tenemos cinco hijos entre un año y 17 años. Dos son hijos biológicos y tres adoptados. Nos encanta ser padres y compartir la vida con nuestros hijos, ¡y queremos darle amor y cuidado a otro bebé - un hermanito/a para que nuestro pequeño Diego tenga un mejor amigo/a de por vida!
Carlos y yo nos conocimos en la universidad cuando teniamos solo diecisiete años y hemos estado juntos desde entonces. Ambos hablamos español, y Karla y los niños también hablan francés. Nos apasionan la familia, los amigos, las culturas, los idiomas y la buena comida. Queremos que nuestros hijos se sientan orgullosos de su herencia, que conozcan el mundo y que dejen una huella positiva donde sea que vayan.

We met on a stairway in college.
Carlos said my name was beautiful, kissed my hand, and told his friends he would marry me. I rolled my eyes because we essentially have the same name, thought the kiss was corny, and laughed about his marriage prophecy. But two years later, he won me over by gifting me boxes of books, cooking for me, and being the kindest person I had ever met. I realized we had the same values: compassion, gratitude, integrity, hard work, respect, and service to others. We also love making each other laugh.

NUESTRA HISTORIA
Carlos y yo nos conocimos en una escalera en la universidad.
Me dijo que mi nombre era hermoso, besó mi mano y les dijo a sus amigos que se casaría conmigo. Me pareció gracioso porque básicamente tenemos el mismo nombre, pensé que el beso era cursi y me reí de su profecia de matrimonio. Pero dos años después, me conquistó regalándome cajas de libros, cocinando para mí y siendo la persona más amable que jamás había conocido. Y me di cuenta de que compartíamos los mismos valores: compasión, gratitud, integridad, trabajo duro, respeto y servicio a los demás. También nos encanta reírnos mucho y disfrutar la vida.

Family is very important to us. We’re blessed to have their love and support in all aspects of our lives, our children’s lives, and in our desire to adopt another child.

NUESTRA VIDA EN FAMILIA
Nos encanta vivir en un lugar donde podemos acampar, hacer kayak, caminar, nadar y andar en bicicleta en familia. Disfrutamos estar activos y llevamos un estilo de vida saludable, libre de drogas y alcohol.
Nuestra familia extendida es muy importante para nosotros, y somos bendecidos al contar con su amor y apoyo en todos los aspectos de nuestras vidas, las vidas de nuestros hijos y nuestro deseo de adoptar aotro niño/a.

Karla is first and foremost extremely beautiful.
She has a gorgeous smile and a wonderful sense of humor — she always makes me laugh. With her intriguing stories, she knows how to entertain us for hours. I love how she teaches our children through storytelling! I admire Karla’s strength and how she is always ready to give of herself to our family. She hates to cook but constantly learns new recipes that keep our family healthy and are a pleasure to our palate. She is gentle, nurturing, patient, resourceful, and kind. I admire her intelligence and forgiving nature.
Karla is an amazing mom. She loves to be goofy with our kids and has a fantastic relationship with each of them. They all seek her to share their feelings and experiences with her, and she makes time for one on one dates with each child regularly. She knows how to encourage them to stretch and reach their goals. She gives all of herself to our family and somehow always has more to give.

When Carlos and I started dating, I shared my dream of adopting and having biological children. He answered, “I will love all of our children the same.”
I knew at that moment that he was the man for me. He has since repeatedly demonstrated his ability to love, serve, and put others’ needs ahead of his own. He is the guy who stays until the end of the party to help clean up and the man whom friends and coworkers seek when they need advice. He is a peaceful man who seeks to live in harmony.
Carlos is an amazing husband and father. He is a great dancer and often buys me flowers. He is the guy who can lighten a situation, making everyone in the room feel at ease. He is loving and playful with our kids and a great leader in our boys’ scouting troop. The boys in his troop love him because he treats them with kindness, always giving them opportunities to grow. He loves being a dad and enjoys being active in our kids’ growth and activities.

Carlos y yo comenzamos de novios, le comparti mi sueño de adoptar y tener hijos biológicos. Él respondió: “Amaré a todos nuestros hijos por igual.”
En ese momento supe que él era el hombre para mí. Desde entonces, ha demostrado una y otra vez su capacidad para amar, servir y poner las necesidades de los demás por encima de las suyas propias. Es la persona que se queda hasta el final de una fiesta para ayudar a limpiar y el hombre a quien amigos y compañeros de trabajo buscan cuando necesitan consejos. Es pacífico y busca vivir en armonía.

Our Days

Homeschooling allows us to spend our days together, sharing meals, learning together, and having more adventures than the average family.
We might go biking during the day, take a field trip to a news station, visit a planetarium, go scuba diving, enjoy a day at the zoo, have a blast at an amusement park, attend a play, or go volunteer at a retirement home. Because Carlos works from home he manages his time to be able to join us and our friends on many of these outings, helping us create amazing memories of shared experiences. Carlos enjoys teaching our children and their friends computer coding at our co-op while I teach Spanish, Etiquette, Writing, Apologetics, and a variety of other subjects.

Nuestros Días
La Educación en casa nos permita darles a nuestros hijos oportunidades académicas y experiencias de vida que una escuela tradicional no ofrece.
El éxito académico de ellos es muy importante para nosotros y por eso les damos diferentes formas de desarrollarse académica y personalmente. También nos permite tener más aventuras que la mayoría de familias tienen. Entre leer libros de historia, matemáticas y economía, podemos salir a andar en bicicleta durante el día, hacer una excursión a una estación de noticias, visitar planetarios, bucear, disfrutar de zoológicos, divertimos en parques de atracciones, asistir a diversas obras de teatro, disfrutar ballets y sinfónicas, hacer trabajo voluntario en un hogar de ancianos, y visitar diferentes estados para aprender geografía. Como Carlos trabaja desde casa, organiza su tiempo para acompañarnos en muchas de estas salidas, ayudándonos a crear recuerdos increíbles de experiencias compartidas.

We moved out of our home state looking for new adventures and we’re enjoying everything our new community has to offer our adventurous family!
Our house is big enough to keep growing our family and has a fun game room, a theater, and a spacious backyard. Usually filled with music, our home is bright, safe, and joyful. We live in a peaceful neighborhood surrounded by parks, trees, and bike paths.
We love grilling steaks in the backyard while our kids play on the grass. The sun sets so beautifully here you’d think you’re in a postcard! We often host friends and family for meals, celebrations, and movie nights.

Nos mudamos de California hace cuatro años y estamos disfrutando todo lo que nuestra nueva comunidad tiene para ofrecer a nuestra familia.
Nuestra casa es lo suficientemente grande como para seguir creciendo como familia y cuenta con una divertida sala de juegos, un teatro y un patio grande. Nuestra casa es luminosa, segura y alegre - y usualmente llena de música. Vivimos en un vecindario tranquilo, rodeado de parques, arboles y carriles para bicicletas.
Nos encanta hacer parrilladas mientras nuestros hijos juegan en el patio. ¡El atardecer aquí es tan hermoso que pensarias que estás en una postal! A menudo recibimos a amigos y familiares para comidas, celebraciones y noches de cine.

Camila • Camila is our eldest daughter. She is a loving, patient sister who has a great friendship with each sibling and she is excited about having another sibling to love. Academically advanced, she is working on her Business Management degree and plans to open her own business. She loves writing stories, playing the guitar, baking, and making crafts. Besides speaking Spanish and French, she has taught herself German, Portuguese and Sign Language.
Mateo • Mateo is protective of his brothers and sisters, is sweet and gentle with baby Diego and wants another little sibling. Academically advanced, he is already earning his Computer Science degree.
Marcos • Marcos is our second son. He loves deeply and wants to adopt every baby we meet. He is looking forward to being a big brother again. He is an incredible older brother who protects his younger siblings and likes to teach them things. He is extremely smart and is already doing geometry and other high school subjects. He loves to write computer code, cook, and play the piano. He loves to play soccer, swim, roller skate, and play chess. He is a loyal friend and is self-motivated.
Karina • Karina is our second daughter. She is friendly, kind, and outgoing. Her wish is to have another little sibling to love, sing to, read to, and carry around just like she does with Diego. She is loving and tough, ready for a race or a hug anytime. Karina learns quickly and loves to read books about animals and science. Her sweetness and charm make it easy for her to make friends with kids of all ages. She loves to play sports and likes to play the violin. She is witty and quick, keeping up with her older siblings and making us laugh with her cleverness.
Diego • Diego is our third son and a bundle of joy. Our entire family is overjoyed with his arrival. He is a sweet, happy cuddle bug. He loves each of his siblings and is so smart. He loves music, balls, playing with his little cousins, and being read to by all of us. He also loves eating kiwi fruit and being sang to by mom. He is playful and has a joyful, easygoing spirit. He will make an amazing big brother.

NUESTROS HIJOS
Camila • Camila es nuestra hija mayor. Es una hermana amorosa y paciente, que tiene una gran amistad con cada uno de sus hermanos, y está emocionada de tener otro hermanito/a a quien amar. Académicamente avanzada, está estudiando para obtener su título en Administración de Empresas y planea abrir su propio negocio. Le encanta escribir historias, tocar la guitarra, hornear y hacer manualidades. Además de hablar español y francés, ha aprendido por sí misma alemán, portugués y lenguaje de señas. Su corazón servicial y su dulce carácter hacen que sea fácil para ella hacer nuevas amistades.
Mateo • Mateo es protector de sus hermanos y hermanas, es dulce y cariñoso con Diego, y quiere tener otro hermanito/a. Académicamente avanzado, ya está estudiando para obtener su título en Ciencias de la Computación. Un artista en todos los sentidos, crea cómics, videojuegos y escribe historias increíbles. Le encanta tocar el piano y jugar al ajedrez. Siempre está aprendiendo y leyendo, y su ingenio y buen humor nos hacen reír. Es admirado por sus hermanos, compañeros de clase, profesores y amigos.
Marcos • Marcos ama profundamente y quiere adoptar a cada bebé que conocemos. Está muy emocionado de ser hermano mayor otra vez. Es un hermano increíblemente protector y le gusta enseñarles cosas a sus hermanos menores. Es extremadamente inteligente y ya está estudiando geometria y otras materias de preparatoria. Le encanta escribir código, cocinar y tocar el piano. También disfruta jugar fútbol, nadar, patinar y jugar al ajedrez. Es un amigo leal y confiable.
Karina • Karina es amigable, amable y extrovertida. Su mayor deseo es tener otro hermanito/a a quien amar, cantar, leer y cargar, tal como hace con Diego. Es una princesa con un láser en la mano, anotando goles mientras lleva puesto un tutu rosa. Es cariñosa y valiente, siempre lista para una carrera o un abrazo. Karina aprende rápidamente y le encanta leer libros sobre animales y ciencia. Su dulzura y encanto hacen que sea fácil para ella hacer amigos de todas las edades. Le gusta practicar deportes y tocar el violin. Es ingeniosa y nos hace reír con su astucia.
Diego • Diego es un rayito de alegría. Toda nuestra familia está encantada con él. Es un niño dulce y feliz, lleno de abrazos y sonrisas. Ama a cada uno de sus hermanos y es muy inteligente. Le encanta la música, las pelotas, jugar con sus primitos y que todos le leamos cuentos. También le fascina comer plátanos y que mamá le cante. Es juguetón y tiene un espíritu alegre y tranquilo. ¡Será un hermano mayor increíble!
