We dream about caring for a baby, giving them all of our love, and watching them grow and develop over the years.
Our home is ready for tiny feet to run around and play in the yard. There are so many things we want to teach them, from figuring out how letters make words to how to play sports to appreciating the wide world around us. We can’t think of a better life than to raise a loving, happy child and give them all the support they need to dream big and realize their goals. And that also means a level of openness with you, which we hope to develop based on what works best for you and your child.
ABOUT US
Our love story is a modern tale; we met on a dating app while we were both living in Chicago.
Our first date was during a snowstorm just before Thanksgiving 2015, and we quickly knew this was special. We first bonded over sports and analytics; in fact, Sloane fell in love with Andreas’ Excel spreadsheet to guide fantasy football drafts. Andreas fell in love with Sloane’s quick wit. We knew our relationship was serious when we agreed to root for each other’s favorite sports teams!
When Andreas rescued Stue, our 50-pound dog, Sloane knew Andreas was a keeper! And Andreas supported Sloane in her role as a non-profit Chairwoman. Andreas proposed at Sloane’s favorite place in the city, a bridge that overlooked the Chicago River and downtown skyline, while it was raining.
We moved to the suburbs during the pandemic so that we could expand our family. We chose the house to raise children, to start a foundation for them to grow, play outside, spend quality time with family, attend excellent schools, and pursue their dreams. At the end of the day, that is the dream we have been working toward, and we are so grateful to you for considering giving us that opportunity.
Please enjoy getting to know a little bit more about us, as you start to imagine what your child’s life could look like as a part of our family.
OUR HOME AND COMMUNITY
We live in the Northwest suburbs OF Chicago.
It is perfect for being outside and taking long walks, where it is common to see neighbors also walking their dogs or kids riding their bikes.
We first noticed this house because of the large front and back yards where kids could run around or play basketball on the driveway. There are small slopes in the backyard that reminded Sloane of her childhood rolling down the grass and sledding, and there is a vegetable garden we’ve enjoyed cultivating. Our finished basement provides extra play space, which is our dogs’ favorite place to do zoomies.
OUR FAMILY
Most of Andreas’ extended family lives in or near a small Illinois town just a 30-minute drive from St. Louis, MO. It’s about a 4.5-hour drive from where we live. Most of our time together is spent when we visit them for holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter). Christmas is typically celebrated over multiple days at multiple locations. The highlight is watching Andreas’s sister’s two young boys (5 and 7) open their Christmas presents on Christmas morning. Andreas’ family loves to play board games, so those are a staple of all family gatherings. In addition to holidays, we will also see them on trips, either to his mom’s annual extended family reunion or on family “camping” trips.
Sloane’s tight-knit family has a unique background. Sloane’s mother’s family is from Wisconsin, so the family does a lot of football talk and will make sure the baby is a Packers fan. Sloane’s father is from Texas, and his mother was born and raised in Mexico.
We live a few minutes from Sloane’s cousin’s family and their 1-year-old daughter, so there will be more cousins nearby! The extended family mostly lives in Israel now. The entire family is Jewish and celebrates Jewish holidays. We enjoy gathering on Chanukah to make gingerbread houses (the cousins have a building “competition”) and to break the fast on Yom Kippur. The family’s most elaborate tradition involves gathering at Sloane’s parents’ house for a full day of Thanksgiving festivities. Conversations (and many jokes!) are in at least 4 languages (Spanish, Hebrew, Yiddish, and English), so our child will learn about different cultures around the world and be part of a strong community.

We are deeply honored that you might consider us worthy of raising your child. We promise to give them all our love and to do everything we can to support their needs while fulfilling their dreams. This also means ensuring we have a healthy relationship with you; we want them to always know their story and maintain a connection with you and their birth family. It is important to us that we stay open to the type of relationship that works for everyone at all times, which we are very aware may shift and change over the years.
We will be patient through the challenges, celebrate the joyful moments, and relish the incredible gift of being adoptive parents. We will never understand what you are going through right now, but we deeply respect and will always support the choices you make today, tomorrow and forever, as we know they will be the right choices for you and your baby.
